Staff In Training
Is your child 16 or older? Want them to have an enriching, fun experience this summer?
We are amazing at helping older teens find their niche with helping kids. Your teen will be well supervised at all times, go through staff training, and get a sense of future careers. Maybe they want to learn how a business runs, help with the 4-7 year olds, teach some arts and crafts or play music for the children.
We give teens age-appropriate, meaningful work in a supportive, friendly environment. And you can always talk to us to see how it's going. At the end of the summer, Camp Olympia will provide them with a letter describing their role in the Camp, the number of hours they served, and duties they performed.
If interested, sign up for our staff in training program for youth 16-18 years old. Gain experience, college application activity building, volunteer hours and training.
Fee
$100 processing for application and background check.
Requirements
- Age: between 16-18 years old
- Complete Staff In Training application, medical form, and submit to background check
- Interested in exploring a career in child care, education, physical education or business administration/entrepreneurship
- Experience participating in the responsibilities of the position: playing basketball, soccer, baseball or swimming, administrative skills for business administration position etc.
- Willingness to be open to new information, be flexible based on the needs of the campers and follow directions.
Staff in training must have their own arrangements for getting to and from the worksite. Youth may be asked to assist in programs at either camp location, based on need. If a youth has a sibling at 1 location, every effort will be made to have them at the same site if preferred for transportation needs. Youth must complete a camp medical form, parent agreement, background check and attend required trainings before beginning at camp. Youth will be required to do some independent reading (approximately 2 hours worth) prior to training regarding child development, dehydration and Camp Olympia schedules, philosophy and goals.
